3PAR^® Remote Copy leverages thin copy technology to deliver a solution that dramatically simplifies remote data replication and disaster recovery in the most flexible and cost-effective way possible. Remote Copy is a uniquely smart, thin, and ready replication technology that allows you to protect and share data from any application more affordably. Remote copy features fibre channel (FC) and native IP support as well as synchronous and asynchronous periodic modes.

Simple, intuitive commands for easy, "do-it-yourself" disaster recovery.	Complex to use. Dependent on highly specialized resources or professional services.
Install in minutes without the need for costly professional services.	Installation takes weeks or months and often requires professional services.

Thin

Thin provisioning-aware. Target volumes provide same cost and ease-of-use benefits as thin source volumes.	Not thin provisioning-aware. Purchase, power, and cool extra capacity to store nothing.
Native IP support for out-of-the-box connectivity over the WAN.	Special extenders or converters needed for long-distance replication.
All modes of operation (asynchronous periodic and synchronous) for the price of one.	Each mode of operation is sold separately.

Ready

Many-to-one replication. Flexibly mirror from multiple systems to one.	Not generally supported.
Any-to-any QoS replication. Flexibly mirror data between any InServ model or different service levels (RAID, drive type).	Difficult to differentiate QoS. Cannot mirror between modular and monolithic platforms natively.
Disk-based asynchronous periodic mode ensures resynchronization of every delta copy.	Cache-dependent approaches that compromise availability since they cannot ensure resynchronization of every delta copy.
