With Thin Persistence and Thin Copy Reclamation—included as part of the InForm® Operating System—you can improve this average capacity savings by another 10% for a total average capacity savings of 70% or more.
An industry first, 3PAR Thin Persistence keeps your storage as lean and efficient as possible by using 3PAR's unique virtualization mapping engine, Thin Engine, to reclaim space from deleted volumes. Thin Copy Reclamation does the same for thin copies (virtual copy snapshots and remote copies). For customers using Veritas Storage Foundation™ by Symantec, Thin Persistence also includes 3PAR Thin Reclamation for Veritas Storage Foundation—software that also uses Thin Engine and 3PAR's Thin API to enable InServ arrays to use granular file system-level information to autonomically reclaim unused space within thin InServ volumes so that they stay thin over time.
