3PAR^® InForm software offerings include both the operating system and additional software products that run on the 3PAR InServ^® Storage Server and on Microsoft Windows^®, Linux, or UNIX^® hosts.

InForm Operating System The 3PAR InForm^® Operating System comes installed on the InServ Storage Server. The InForm OS includes a collection of advanced internal virtualization capabilities to increase storage efficiency and reduce administration time.

Additional InForm Software Additional InForm software products available for the InServ offer enhanced capabilities including thin storage technologies, secure partitioning for virtual private arrays, and virtual and remote copy capabilities.

The following products are additional array-based software that are purchased separately from the InForm OS: 

• 3PAR Thin Provisioning: an autonomic and efficient software solution that improves capacity utilization by enabling you to start thin by purchasing capacity only as your applications truly require it for written data.

• 3PAR Thin Conversion: helps you get thin by enabling you to convert legacy volumes while preserving service levels and without impacting production workloads. With Thin Conversion, you can effectively and rapidly “thin” a heterogeneous datacenter to one-quarter of its original size.

• 3PAR Thin Persistence: An industry first, Thin Persistence keeps your thin storage as lean and efficient as possible by reclaiming deleted space, so your thin volumes stay thin.

• 3PAR Virtual Copy: Built on thin copy technology, 3PAR Virtual Copy is a reservationless, non-duplicative snapshot product that allows you to affordably protect and share data from any application.

• 3PAR Remote Copy: Built on thin copy technology, 3PAR Remote Copy delivers a solution that dramatically simplifies remote data replication and disaster recovery in the most flexible and cost-effective way possible.

• 3PAR Dynamic Optimization: Dynamic Optimization aligns application and business requirements with data service levels easily, precisely, and on demand.

• 3PAR Virtual Domains: Virtual Domains is virtual machine technology that delivers secure segregation of Virtual Private Arrays for different user groups, departments, and applications while preserving the benefits delivered by the massive parallelism architected into the InServ platform.
