3PAR InServ Hardware
3PAR InServ® Storage Servers utilize the 3PAR InSpire® Architecture to deliver a simple yet powerful, dynamically-tiered storage array for open systems. Central to the design is a high-bandwidth, low-latency backplane that unifies cost-effective, modular, and upgradeable components into a highly available and autonomically load-balanced cluster.
Tightly-Coupled ClusterTraditional modular and monolithic storage architectures have distinct price/
performance characteristics and often force customers into unattractive tradeoffs, or into deploying and managing multiple architectures to meet their needs. Many clustered architectures are loosely coupled, creating performance and availability boundaries which limit the practicality of scaling within a single system.
3PAR's tightly-clustered InSpire Architecture eliminates the price premiums and scaling complexity respectively associated with monolithic and modular array architectures. Customers can start small and affordably—with as few as two Controller Nodes—yet grow non-disruptively and massively within a single, dynamically-tiered system. Storage purchasing, training, and management are greatly simplified.
Cost-effective and Automatically Load-balanced Cluster
A full-mesh, completely passive backplane provides a dedicated 1-Gigabyte per second data path between the 3PAR ASIC in each InServ Controller Node. This low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnect allows each application workload to be distributed and shared across all system resources in a massively parallel fashion. This tight coupling produces high and predictable levels of performance for all workloads—even under failure conditions—as well as high utilization rates for purchased resources.
