3PAR InServ Storage Server Named Most Valuable Product

FREMONT, CA, US -—May 8, 2006

3PAR®, the leading provider of Utility Storage, announced today that the 3PAR InServ® Storage Server with Dynamic Optimization has been selected as a finalist for the Most Valuable Product (MVP) Award in the category of Disk Subsystems. The MVP Awards Program, which is co-sponsored by InfoStor Magazine and the Association of Storage Networking Professionals (ASNP), recognizes the "best of the best" of storage networking products in the industry, as determined by storage end users.

This prestigious awards program is co-sponsored by two user-focused organizations: InfoStor magazine, the leading storage-specific publication for enterprise storage professionals, and the Association of Storage Networking Professionals (ASNP), the first worldwide organization dedicated to the needs of storage networking users. This is the only industry awards program where the winners are selected exclusively by end users among InfoStor's readers and ASNP's 2,000+ members. Winners will be announced at the Storage World Conference 2006, taking place on June 20-22 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California.

"InfoStor congratulates all of the MVP Finalists, and thanks the industry analysts and ASNP members that helped with the selections," says Dave Simpson, editor-in-chief of InfoStor. "Final voting is now in the hands of end users, who are best-equipped to determine the most valuable products according to their criteria."

"The ASNP congratulates all the MVP Finalists. We are pleased to be co-sponsoring these awards with InfoStor and look forward to the award presentation at Storage World Conference in June," says Daniel Delshad, chairman of ASNP.

With 3PAR's Dynamic Optimization, customers can achieve optimal data service levels at the lowest possible cost, at all times, across all stages of the disk-based data lifecycle. Users can align application and business requirements with data service levels easily, precisely and on-demand. 3PAR Dynamic Optimization runs on the 3PAR InServ Storage Server, a massively scalable, fully-tiered storage array ideal for storage consolidation.

The benefits of 3PAR Dynamic Optimization include:
Proactively addressing data service levels during peak business demand. For instance, customers can deploy a volume with RAID 50 during off-peak periods. During busy peak periods, they can simply and dynamically change the service level to RAID 10 for increased performance and then easily convert the volume back to RAID 50 when the increased demand subsides.

Meeting service level change orders on demand. For example, a service provider can instantly implement a request to upgrade from "silver" to "gold" service levels for an individual customer.

Managing changes in the value of data, or the overall processing demands of an application, over its lifecycle. As an example, application data can be converted to a lower service level (and lower-cost storage tiers) over time, as demands drop. The same data can often be stored for one-fifth the cost later in its lifecycle versus the storage cost at the time of initial provisioning.

Recapturing allocated storage capacity on demand to accommodate rapid or unexpected application growth. For example, moving 10 useable terabytes from RAID 10 protection to RAID 50 can create an additional 7.5 usable terabytes that are immediately available for a new project.

3PAR arrays have become a strategic and trusted standard for mission-critical online storage deployments around the world, with many customers relying on 3PAR for 100% of their corporate data. 3PAR Utility Storage is most often deployed for open systems storage consolidation, integrated data lifecycle management and performance-intensive applications. 3PAR customers include financial services companies like Merrill Lynch, service providers like Verizon and SAVVIS and leading Internet companies like Priceline.com, MySpace.com and eHarmony.
