Egenera and 3PAR Deliver Utility Computing for Datacenters

Egenera BladeFrame and 3PAR InServ Storage Combination Delivers Advanced Server and Storage Virtualization

Demonstrating the value of the combined solution, the two companies announced a joint customer, NAiS-IS (Matsushita Electric Works Information Systems, Co., Ltd) of Osaka, Japan. The companies also announced a cooperative technology, marketing and support relationship.

The relationship between Egenera and 3PAR capitalizes on the IT trend towards utility computing infrastructures within the datacenters of large enterprises and service providers. Customer Win Demonstrates Value of Egenera and 3PAR Combination
Building on the recently announced SAVVIS (Nasdaq: SVVS) implementation (see press release titled "Egenera, Inkra and 3PAR Power SAVVIS Virtualized Services Delivery Platform" dated April 5, 2004), Egenera and 3PAR have successfully completed a significant deployment with NAiS-IS (Matsushita Electric Works Information Systems, Co., Ltd), a major Japanese systems integration and outsourcing service provider. NAiS-IS owns and manages a large central datacenter with global high-speed networks that link more than 2,200 sites in Japan and overseas. With the Egenera and 3PAR combination, NAiS-IS now manages a cost-effective, consolidated, utility computing environment. This modern utility computing datacenter enables NAiS-IS to rapidly deliver its application services for product design, ERP, supply chain management and CRM applications to its large customer base.
