3PAR FOR LINUX LOVERS
Migrating your Utility Computing environment over
to Linux?
Linux has more than 20 million users and is growing rapidly with
its outstanding cost efficiency, performance and flexibility.
3PAR brings more responsiveness and “utility” to your Utility
Computing environment by letting your Linux servers change tasks simply
and easily as demand dictates. Based on the application processing required,
users can remotely load the needed OS/application stack for one or many
Linux servers – all from a single 3PAR-managed boot image. These
task-specific image sets can then be customized server-by-server if needed.
By using 3PAR
Virtual Copy (pdf) to
manage and create these image sets, 3PAR takes the challenge out of managing
and provisioning storage capacity
across scores of Linux-based servers and "blades" from Egenera
and other vendors. 3PAR Virtual Copy delivers minimal capacity consumption
but, more importantly, version control and instant provisioning of
operating system or application binaries are centrally administered
and tested
over time. For new servers, provisioning storage capacity and boot
images has never been easier or more efficient.
And with 3PAR
Virtual Copy DBA (pdf), you can maintain high availability for
your Oracle 9i/Linux environment by instantly recovering after an accidental
deletion or corruption. 3PAR VCDBA intelligently
takes a non-disruptive and consistent snapshot of an entire Oracle
data set. Snapshots from dozens of points in time can be kept online
economically, allowing you to recover immediately without going to
tape and without extended log playback.
3PAR Utility Storage is tested and validated with RedHat, SuSE and Linux
server platforms. 3PAR also supports Oracle 9i RAC in Linux environments.
