Martin’s Point began as a not-for-profit health care practice in Maine, serving the needs of low-income patients. In 1981, we officially began operations as “Martin’s Point Health Care” and started offering the US Family Health Plan to military beneficiaries in Portland, Maine. Founded in 1898 and affiliated with what is now New York-Presbyterian Hospital since 1927, Weill Medical College of Cornell University is among the top-ranked clinical and medical research centers in the country. In addition to offering degrees in medicine, Weill Cornell also has PhD programs in biomedical research and education at the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences and—with neighboring Rockefeller University and the Sloan-Kettering Institute—has established a joint MD-PhD program for students to intensify the pursuit of Weill Cornell’s threefold mission of education, research, and patient care.
